World Humanitarian Day 2012

In an effort to raise public awareness of humanitarian assistance, the General Assembly has designated 19 August as World Humanitarian Day. The day honours those who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and those who continue to bring assistance and relief to millions. It also seeks to draw attention to humanitarian needs worldwide and to explain what humanitarian aid work entails.
 
This year’s campaign "I Was Here" is about making your mark by doing something good, somewhere, for someone else.

International Youth Day 2012

The theme chosen for International Youth Day 2012 – Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth – is a global call to action for young men and women, as well as other stakeholders around the world, to develop and engage in partnerships towards building a better world.
 
International Youth Day will be celebrated all over the world. It is a celebration of young peoples’ energy, imagination and initiatives, and aims to recognize their crucial contributions to enhancing peace and development.

International Day of World's Indigenous People

The focus of this year's International Day of the World's Indigenous People is "Indigenous Media, Empowering Indigenous Voices". The theme aims to highlight the importance of indigenous media in challenging stereotypes, forging indigenous peoples' identities, communicating with the outside world, and influencing the social and political agenda.
