WORKSHOP ON STRENGTHENING NATIONAL CAPACITIES TO COLLECT DATA ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN SOUTH ASIA
Prevention and response to violence against women and girls (VAW/G) is, together with the elimination of harmful practices such as child marriage and gender-biased sex selection, one of the main mandates of UNFPA. The lack of reliable and comparable national data is recognized as a major obstacle to developing appropriate context specific policies, programmes and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

ASIA-PACIFIC REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON MIDWIFERY
One hundred and twenty participants have gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, to enable an exchange between countries in the UNFPA Asia-Pacific region on the issues facing the midwifery workforce. The meeting will also mark the regional launch of the State of the World’s Midwifery 2014: A Universal Pathway, A Woman’s Right to Health (SoWMy2014).
