International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration on women's economic, political and social achievements. Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held, ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events, to connect women from all around the world. The theme for IWD 2012 is "Empower Rural Women – End Hunger and Poverty."

3月4日（木）に国連大学で、「国連のアカウンタビリテイーの強化：地球市民社会の役割」と題した国連大学公開講座が開催されました。 スピーカーは、国連大学から出版された「Envisioning Reform: Enhancing UN Accountability in the 21st century」の編集者である久山純弘国連大学客員教授です。 また、コメンテーターとして、所長の池上と功刀達朗氏（国連大学高等研究所客員教授）が参加しました。 池上は、市民社会活動の事例として「お母さんの命を守るキャンペーン」 をご紹介しました。
