COVID-19 and Violence against Women: The evidence behind the talk

Publication

Big data analysis shows that Internet searches related to violence against women and help-seeking rose significantly during COVID-19 lockdowns in eight Asian countries, buttressing evidence of the particular dangers faced by women confined to homes or restricted in their movements. In response, government and private service providers should boost their online reach and engagement with survivors of violence.

Prevalence Rates, Trends and Disparities in Intimate Partner Violence: Power of Data in the IPV Geospatial Dashboard

Using data from the UNFPA IPV dashboard (which offers the highest data coverage of any related source), this report features levels, trends and sociodemographic and geographic disparities, within and across countries, in intimate partner violence in the past 12 months, among ever-partnered women. Such data offer insights for evidence-based policymaking and programming, and targeted resource allocations in order to ensure no one is left behind.

Guidelines on responsible representation and reporting of violence against women and violence against children

These guidelines were developed by UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women in the Asia-Pacific region as an output of a joint working group to enhance and prioritise messaging and communications on violence against women and violence against children amid and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
