Equity in access to health services is an issue in many countries in Asia-Pacific. There is a large disparity in access between the rich and the poor, and urban and rural areas. Marginalized groups, including migrants and ethnic minorities, are also underserved.
The United Nations Regional Thematic Working Group on Health (TWG-H) commissioned this review of existing information on health care inequities in the region. The review provides a summary of the political, economic and social causes of health care inequities, as well as the policies, strategies and activities implemented to address the issue.
