This technical brief has been developed by the UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Office in response to requests for more specific guidance on the development of CPD programmes to improve quality of care, that are linked to maintaining core competencies and relicensure of midwives.

This brief is intended for use by UNFPA country offices in Asia and the Pacific Region, Nursing and Midwifery Councils, individual midwives, employers, educational providers and educators, midwifery associations and other regulatory authorities.

The UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Office is committed to strengthen midwifery education, training and regulation as part of a broader effort to improve quality of care and end preventable maternal and newborn mortality in this region.
