Respect & Empower

Gender-based violence is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world, especially in the Asia and the Pacific region.

It undermines the health, dignity, security, and autonomy of survivors, yet remains in a culture of silence.  UNFPA is a lead agency working to respond and prevent gender-based violence in countries across Asia and the Pacific, supporting programmes in humanitarian and development settings.

To advocate for prioritization and increased investments in responding to and preventing gender-based violence, the UNFPA Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific, is delivering a regional advocacy campaign titled 'Respect and Empower' from 2022-2025. The campaign aims to ensure that survivors of violence recieve holistic services, including health, legal, psychosocial, and social services so that they can live a life of dignity, respect, and empowerment.

A day in the life of a Gender-based Violence Service Provider

Coinciding with the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence in 2022, the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office launched a series of videos providing a glimpse into the day in the life of a gender-based violence service provider. The videos are a collection of the strength and reslience of our partners on the ground as they serve to create a brighter future for survivors of violence.
