International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration on women's economic, political and social achievements. Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held, ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events, to connect women from all around the world. The theme for IWD 2012 is "Empower Rural Women – End Hunger and Poverty."
