The UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Regional Office, together with our sub-regional office in the Pacific, provides strategic guidance and support to 36 country offices across this diverse region to enable safe deliveries, prevent unintended pregnancies, and address violence against women and girls – in both development and humanitarian contexts.

We do this by focusing on the three zeros of UNFPA’s global strategic plan: zero maternal deaths, zero unmet need for family planning, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices by 2030.

In 2023, using data, innovation and tried-and-tested approaches, we continued to advance efforts to end maternal mortality, enhance access to sexual and reproductive health services and information, including family planning, and combat gender-based violence and harmful practices such as child marriage and son preference.

Read about these efforts and highlights from our work in 2023, which includes co-hosting the Seventh Asian and Pacific Population Conference, a milestone achievement in reviewing progress of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development.
