"Investing in family planning for economic prosperity" is the theme of the first-ever National Family Planning Conference in Lao PDR (Vientiane, May 3 - 4, 2017), organized by the Government with the support of UNFPA and FP2020.
Family planning and, more broadly, sexual and reproductive health and rights, are key contributors to countries' ability to fulfill the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development underpinned by its 17 cross-cutting Sustainable Development Goals.
Lao PDR has clear family planning commitments under the FP2020 umbrella, in convergence with the SDGs and the country's own Eighth National Social-Economic Development Plan.
UNFPA Lao PDR is a key partner of Government and civil society in this effort.
