The climate emergency is wreaking havoc across the world, and particularly across Asia and the Pacific, at a scale that people on the frontlines and the humanitarian community cannot manage without increased investment and political will.

The climate crisis affects the social and environmental determinants of health, undermining full achievement of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and increasing risks of gender-based violence and harmful practices.

We must continue our joint efforts in preparing for and responding to humanitarian crises to safeguard the rights and needs of women, girls, and vulnerable populations.

Collectively, we must increase our investments in addressing the climate crisis. The cost of inaction will be that women, girls and the most vulnerable will be left even further behind.

UNFPA and the Government of Australia, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, are embarking on a regional advocacy campaign to encourage greater dialogue, closer collaboration and create a call-to-action for increased investments in inclusive and gender responsive and transformative climate action.

The campaign launched in and Dhaka, Bangladesh in November 2022 Suva, Fiji in December 2022
